Shots fired in demolition in Caloocan 3 policemen injured

MANILA (UPDATE) – Tension erupted between informal settlers and a demolition team in Barangay 86, Zone 8, Caloocan City Tuesday morning after informal settlers started throwing rocks at the demolition team.

Informal settlers in Calaanan Compound hurled rocks at the demolition team as the latter attempted to dismantle their homes.

A radio DZMM report said several gunshots were heard during the demolition. Several armed policemen were also spotted in the area.

The sheriff of Caloocan City Regional Trial Court Branch 128 served the writ of demolition issued by Judge Eleanor Wong.

The writ indicates that the lot is owned by a certain Ramon and Natividad Nisip.

The residents said they were only offered about P60,000 to leave the half a hectare lot, which they said has been their home for about four decades already. They said they were not offered any relocation site.
