Twenty-eight persons, including several children, were injured when the jeepney they were riding in figured in an accident on the Cavite Expressway in Las Piñas City yesterday.
Police identified the victims as Richie, 37; Ramon, 39; Richmond, 19; Jeric 8; Jedric, 7; Maxene de Guzman, 12; Arvel Nuguid, 16, Lolita Gloria, 47, Lester Jeff, 12; Geevie, 37; Lea Opiniano, 37; Kelly, 9; Armando Gloria, 50; Dionisio Opiniano Jr., 61; Heferson Evangelista, 37; Irene Evangelista, 39; May, 35; Kurt, 3; Kayla, 4; Ian, 3; Boy Evangelista, 5; Manny Gloria, 35; Ruby, 35; Jim,10; Elena Vibar, 60; Gladys Ibay, 34; Shawn Ibay, 3; and the jeepney driver identified only as a certain “Boy.”
The Las Piñas traffic bureau said the victims, all from Caloocan City, were on their way home from a burial in Cavite on board a jeepney with a Malanday-Recto route on the northbound lane when a right tire of the vehicle exploded.
The jeepney turned turtle and crashed into two buses on the southbound lane, a Saulog Bus (UWL-686) driven by Romnick Pintorand and a JenTransit bus (TYP-886), with Federico Hermona behind the wheel.
