Anti-narcotics agents arrested a boat man for allegedly trying to deliver at least 100 kilograms of marijuana at the Manila International Container Port (MICP) in Tondo, Manila, Friday night.
Police identified the suspect as Lino Sabino, 48. The suspect’s companion, Raul Molina, was hurt after a shootout with policemen.
The policemen were checking an informant’s tip about a marijuana shipment at the MICP when they spotted Sabino around 6 p.m.
When accosted by policemen, Sabino and his companion tried to escape with the marijuana shipment.
Sabino told an ABS-CBN News team that he was only asked by someone to deliver the marijuana shipment. He said the man who told him to deliver the illegal drugs promised to pay him P1,500.
The police, however, said drug charges will still be filed against the suspect.
